$2M+ Savings To SC Through Foster Care Adoption
Updated: Feb 21, 2019

This past fiscal year (2017-18), the SC Heart Gallery was instrumental in matching 132 children from Foster Care with permanent, loving, forever, adopted families. The economics of this feat provides a significant saving to the state of South Carolina. The national average savings to the state for each child placed in an adoptive home verses the child remaining in Foster Care is $15,600 per child per year. This national average savings is the difference between subsidized Foster Care and subsidized Adoption costs. Based on this national average savings, the state of South Carolina will save $2,059,200 for each year these 132 children are no longer in Foster Care. Again, that is the savings to the state of South Carolina EVERY YEAR these children are no longer in Foster Care.
The most significant tool that is utilized to connect these children in Foster Care to potential adoptive parents is video. The SC Heart Gallery Foundation produced 122 child profile videos and 5 additional promotional videos during the 2017-2018 fiscal year. We are the only organization in the state that is producing professionally shot videos to promote awareness to the our state's "Waiting Children".
